Family Room (famous lightning picture)

A Volcano with jet engines that spew fire to Venice to South America to Maine to New York (circa 1920) to Arabia. This place is amazing. I spent a lot of time in a hurry up and wait mode. It gave me a chance to really check out the details. The attention given the smallest things is astounding. I had troubles finding any flaws. At one point I saw a group of about 20 guys sitting on their butts with little chisels and hammers picking out the pieces of metal in the asphalt because they were causing rust marks. The full scale Moorish Castle and 14 Century galleon were detailed down to working bailing pumps and a full size crane for offloading cargo. Inside the Volcano is a futuristic land (ala Jules Vernes) that has a great vibe. There is a Little Mermaid land for kids that is under ground so it feels like you are under water. And every land has a major show of some sort. All this with an 800 room hotel in the park overlooking the Mediterranean lagoon. It would be easy to spend a week here. It was weird, though, to have a bunch of Japanese dressed in Italian garb saying "Bonjoirno". Pictures don't do this place justice.

My job was to play with an orchestra of about 60 but make sure we stay with the click track. It was for the Grand Opening with everyone including Eisner there. It went well but I learned it isn't easy to hear a click with thousands of dollars worth of fireworks going off right behind you! A special thanks to Paul Freeman and Bob Wackerman of Audio By The Bay for taking me along.

The whole Mediterranean area turns into a show with 40 + speakers that disappear after the show.
The detailed stone work was cool.
