I enjoy teaching Private Lessons. If you are interested please e-mail me at eieiowens@mac.com

My lessons are all about getting to know you and developing a lesson plan based on what YOU need. From technique to reading to independence to the study of different styles, I can help you achieve your goals.

I have taught dozens of workshops around the US and Canada for Maranatha Music.

I have also taught and played at these local conferences:

Saddleback Church Worship Arts Conference, Stream Of Praise Ministry Conference, Church On The Way Worship Conference, Florence Ave. Foursquare Church Worship Conference, High Desert Church Worship Conference, and Coast Hills Church Worship Arts Conference

Music I'm Listening to.......
Mohktar Samba

This is an African drummer living in Paris. His solo CD is very interesting. Beautiful vocals with fusion like world music and rhythms He also has a book called African Rhythms and Independence for the Drum Set. It is very challenging stuff. It will keep me practicing for a long time and opened up my mind to different stickings and beat placements.

Stain Carstensen: Farmers Market...................

This stuff is wild. A group that plays odd time stuff so fast it's hard to comprehend. They are from Norway but draw from many influences. Check out this odd time groove called New Semesno(214k) from drummer Jarle Vespestad.

The Dapp Theory.........

This is a band that takes odd time to a new level ..... The drummer (Sean Rickman) is amazing and has this bizarre way of convoluting the simplest groove into something crazy. I've seen these guys twice and it was a real treat!

Here's a list of some favorite players and bands ....... XTC (all their music holds up very well over time) ..... Pat Metheny Group (We Live Here) ....... Bob Mintzer (One Music) ... The Yellowjackets (Men with Blue Hats)..... The Story (Angel in the House) ......Jonatha Brooke (Ten Cent Wing) ....... Bill Frizell (anything he plays on).... Kevin Gilbert (Thud, and anything else I can get my hands on by him)...... Rob Mathis (William The Angel)....... Perfab Sprout (Jordan: The Comeback)..... Salif Keita (Soro) ..... Jean Luc Ponty (Tchokola) .... Perter Erskin with Pasqua and Carpenter (Live @ Rocco) .. Me'Shell Ndegeochello (Peace Beyond Passion) .. Pat Meteny (Secret Story)...... Mohktar Samba (Dounia) and the list could go on .....

Check out this transcription of a drum solo I played on Norm Stockton's "Veggie Soup".
Vocal Sampling:

A vocal group like Take Six only it's all salsa\afro cuban and all the instruments are done with vocals. The arrangements are amazing. The traditional stuff is very well done. Definitely worth checking out.

Jazzanova: In Between

I love this stuff. Pass up the first song though. I'm not sure what they were thinking there. I like all the other tunes. Sort of jazzy electronica. The drum programing is very cool.
